"AINU MOSIR"DVD Release on June 15th, 2022

They live in this world, and are still living to this day. A new Japanese film is born that follows the lives of Ainu people in the modern world.
Winner of a Special Jury Mention in International Narrative Competition at the Tribeca Film Festival, the first feature-length Japanese winner in festival history, and Best Film at the Guanajuato International Film Festival, among other accolades.
A remarkable work by director Takeshi Fukunaga, a new talent who is attracting attention around the world.
It drew comments from many celebrated figures in the film world at the time of its debut, and its theatrical wide release in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic drew such a wave of passionate responses from audiences that its run was extended over three months.

Fukunaga, a native of Hokkaido, spent five years carefully planning and creating what he calls "Chikaku te Toi,Boku ga Sumu Machi no Ohanashi".
Set in Ainu Kotan, or village, near Hokkaido's Lake Akan, this stirring film follows the growth of a fourteen-year-old Ainu boy, set against the breathtaking scenery, the richness of the four seasons, and the deep native culture of his world.
A story of the native Ainu people, entwining the threads of the universal journey through questioning personal identity with the deep sense of belonging to one's community and homeland, is born in this work.
The leading role of Kanto is played by KANTO SHIMOKURA, himself of Ainu heritage, whose penetrating gaze and youthful vibrancy lend power to his true-to-life performance.
The cast is centered on Ainu actors, and the supporting performances of TOKO MIURA and LILY FRANKY, now internationally known for their roles in “Drive My Car”, round out the film with flair.
