Lead Akira Interview

To celebrate the second anniversary of the opening of the PONYCANYON SHOP, we have published interviews with artists whose products are sold at the store. What is the place that Akira, who loves to play survival games, wants to go back to?

Q1. Tell us about your favorite memory from Asia so far.
We had been there before, but for us, Taiwan is a very special place. This is a while back now, but the street performance we did at Ximending was so passionate. We were performing right in the middle of an intersection, but we could see passersby stopping to watch us perform as far as the eye could see, which caused a panic in the streets. I was so happy in that moment, realizing that so many people from Taiwan were there to welcome us.

Q2.What city in Asia do you most want to visit right now and why?
My mother is from the Hong Kong and Macau area, so I would love to go there. I'm very familiar with the area, but I really want to go there as Lead, too.

Q3.Please tell us about your favorite souvenir that you bought in another country.
I love playing survival games... and I bought an air gun while we were in Taiwan and it's one of my favorite things. One of the air gun manufacturers in Taiwan is pretty famous in the survival game world. I knew about that, so I definitely stopped by a shop when we went to Taiwan! I was so hyped because they had rare items you can't find in Japan. I'd love to go again (lolol).

Q4 What sort of events would you like to participate in while overseas?
I'd love to do another street performance again, and I'd love to do a concert hall tour to various overseas locations. Because of how much social media has evolved over the years, we get comments from fans overseas, so we know that there are people outside of Japan enjoying our music, too. And so, my desire to go to those countries and personally see everyone goes bigger by the day. Because of that, we're going to continue working hard so we can make that a reality someday.
