To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the opening of the PONYCANYON SHOP, we published interviews with artists whose products are sold in the store about their experiences overseas. Ryohei, who was impressed by the cross-border dance exchanges, confesses that he would like to hold an event abroad. We can't wait to see it come to fruition!
Q1.Tell us about your favorite memory from Asia so far.
A while ago I visited South Korea with some friends privately to practice breakdancing. My Japanese friend told me about this private studio the famous b-boy crew uses and we showed up without an appointment asking “We’re visiting from Japan. Please let us practice with you.” They gladly let us in. They treated us kindly even though we were of different nationalities and we communicated through the power of dance, something wonderful that really moved me. Later on, we ended up hosting them in our studio when they visited Japan, so getting to practice together again was a great memory.
Q2.What city in Asia do you most want to visit right now and why?
I want to go to Thailand! I have this happy image in my head of it as a tourist destination with beautiful beaches. I’ve gotten lots of messages from our Thai fans, but haven’t visited yet.
Q3.Tell us about any interesting items you bought or places you visited while overseas.
Whenever I visit Taiwan, there’s this super delicious tapioca milk tea that a local staff member introduced me to. It is too delicious!
Q4.What sort of events would you like to participate in while overseas?
I think it’d be fun to have an event or festival where dance/vocal groups from different countries (male or female) perform together.
